Safety relay:
route the buy before you RFQ
Separate force-guided contact relays, E-stop monitoring modules and door-switch input modules so one vague "safety relay" line does not spawn three incompatible quotes.
Published 2 November 2026 · By JOYLINKTECH · Hub page: deep RFQ detail stays on the linked chapter guides. Catalog facts cite the NEWMAZZ MA9Z family page.
Buyers type "safety relay" and get explainers, Reddit threads and module catalogs in the same result set. The commercial risk is simpler: Path A force-guided contact relays, Path B E-stop monitoring modules and Path C door-switch input modules get priced as if they were one SKU. This page is a routing hub. It does not replace the chapter guides for force-guided contacts or emergency-stop monitoring, and it does not invent SIL numbers or wiring diagrams. Use the fork below, then open the matching worksheet.
Three routes that must not share one price cell
| Route | What you are actually buying | Deep guide on this site | Hold when… |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Force-guided contact relay (Path A) | An electromechanical relay whose linked NO/NC contacts are the buy. Useful when your design already owns monitoring logic. | Force guided relay: Path A vs Path B | The RFQ says "safety relay" but the drawing only needs a bare force-guided contact set, or the reverse. |
| 2. E-stop monitoring module (Path B / stop devices) | A functional module that watches emergency-stop channels, applies reset rules and provides safety outputs. | Emergency stop safety relay: inputs, reset, evidence | Stop devices are unnamed, or NPN/PNP input language is missing. |
| 3. Door / guard input module (Path B / access devices) | The same class of monitored module, but the primary inputs are safety door switches, guard locks or non-contact sensors. Often shares a family with route 2; the RFQ still names the door devices. | Module family: MA9Z. Door hardware: safety door switch type map. | Door architecture (tongue, solenoid lock, RFID, non-contact) is omitted and suppliers guess. |
NEWMAZZ MA9Z is listed for monitoring emergency stops and safety door switches, with series catalog wording for Category 4 under EN/ISO 13849-1, dual NPN NC or dual PNP NC inputs, 3 NO safety contacts + 1 NC auxiliary, 35 mm DIN-rail mounting, and manual/automatic reset options. Those are series statements. Confirm the selected model and its documents before you specify a safety function. [1]
If the real question is still "is this a bare force-guided relay or a monitored module?", stay on the force guided relay fork until Path A or Path B is explicit. This hub does not restate that whole chapter.
Five continue/hold checks for the hub RFQ
Write the route number on the revision
Input: Route 1, 2 or 3 (or "2+3 same module" with both device lists).
Decision: Continue when every supplier reply echoes the route. Hold a mixed shortlist that prices a Path A relay against a Path B module without a deviation line.
Evidence to request: Route letter/number on the quote header.
List the field devices that feed the buy
Input: E-stop devices, door/guard devices, light-curtain language if present, or "none (discrete relay only)" for route 1.
Decision: Continue when the list matches the route. Hold "safety relay" with an empty device list. For curtain-plus-module work, open the light curtain safety relay checklist instead of stuffing curtain fields into this hub.
Evidence to request: Device list echoed on the offer.
Lock input language, reset mode and output map for module routes
Input: Dual NPN NC / dual PNP NC / other; manual or automatic reset (or project-defined start); safety and auxiliary contacts needed.
Decision: Continue when those three blocks are filled for routes 2 and 3. Hold "3NO+1NC Category 4" copied from a brochure without matching your drawing. MA9Z series pages publish those contact and input options as catalog claims. [1]
Evidence to request: Ordering table rows. Use the E-stop chapter worksheet when stop devices dominate.
Keep door hardware on its own commercial line
Input: Architecture and contact/output needs for each guard device, separate from the module SKU.
Decision: Continue when door switches are not buried inside the relay part number. Hold a single SKU that claims to include an unnamed guard lock. Series examples for locks include MA2/MA3 (1,300 N holding force listed on family pages) and MA50 RFID lock options; confirm models. [2]
Evidence to request: Separate codes. Start from the machine safety catalog.
Ask for documents, not adjectives
Input: Datasheet for the proposed code, reset/application note if module, force-guided standard wording if Path A, certificate copies only if your project requires them.
Decision: Continue when each offer points to storeable files. Hold "SIL relay" or "safe module" as the only answer. JOYLINKTECH does not invent certificates or lab results.
Evidence to request: Named PDF and page, tied to the ordering code.

Short FAQ
Why not put all safety-relay detail on this one URL?
Because force-guided contact construction and E-stop monitoring are different commercial buys. Splitting chapters avoids doorway duplicates and keeps each worksheet short. This hub only routes.
Is a dual-channel safety relay the same keyword as this page?
Related searches for dual-channel or module wording still need the same route choice. Keep them on this hub or the E-stop chapter rather than publishing a near-identical second article.
Will this page give a generic safety relay wiring diagram?
No. Use the supplier document for the proposed code. Generic redraws invent unverified steps.
Catalog references and scope
Checked 2 November 2026. Hub routing and worksheet are JOYLINKTECH compilation. No physical testing, stock, price, authorization or AI-citation claims. Deep definitions stay on the linked chapter pages.
- JOYLINKTECH NEWMAZZ MA9Z family page and the 2026 selection manual (PDF). Series claims for Category 4 (EN/ISO 13849-1), dual NPN NC / dual PNP NC, 3 NO + 1 NC, DIN-rail mounting and reset options must be confirmed on the selected model.
