Light curtain safety relay:
RFQ the architecture, not a wiring myth

Decide what the relay must monitor, when a door or guard switch still belongs on the bill, and which evidence fields keep light-curtain quotes comparable.

Published 2 November 2026 · By JOYLINKTECH · Relay and door-switch facts cite NEWMAZZ family pages only. JOYLINKTECH does not list light-curtain SKUs in this catalog.

Search results for "light curtain safety relay" are mostly brand connection explainers and cascading E-stop-plus-curtain wiring clips. Buyers still need a non-wiring checklist: which devices feed the safety relay, whether a movable guard still needs a door switch, and which documents make offers comparable. This page is that checklist. It does not publish OSSD wiring steps, invent light-curtain part numbers, or claim laboratory testing. JOYLINKTECH sources NEWMAZZ door switches, guard locks and safety relay modules; it does not invent light-curtain SKUs for this site.

Three-piece fork before you price anything

Write each piece on one revision. Empty cells are holds. Mixing a curtain-only quote with a door-switch quote under one line item usually wastes a round of clarification.

Procurement labels for light-curtain plus safety-relay work. NEWMAZZ links cover door/guard and relay families only.
PieceWhat the buyer is decidingHold if the RFQ only says…Where JOYLINKTECH can help
A. Presence-sensing device (light curtain / similar)Resolution, protected height, muting or blanking needs, mounting, and the output language your design expects (for example OSSD wording from the curtain maker)."Light curtain" with no resolution, height or output language. Not a NEWMAZZ family on this site. Name the OEM code you already use, or ask your curtain supplier for the datasheet. Do not invent a JOYLINKTECH curtain SKU from these pages.
B. Safety relay / monitoring moduleWhich inputs the module must accept, dual-channel expectation, reset mode, and safety/auxiliary outputs."Safety relay for light curtain" with no input or reset fields.MA9Z family pages list dual NPN NC or dual PNP NC input variants, 3 NO + 1 NC contacts, and manual/automatic reset options as series catalog claims. Confirm the selected model. See also the emergency stop safety relay RFQ and the force guided relay fork.
C. Door / guard switch (optional but often still required)Whether a hinged door, sliding fence or cover still needs open/closed sensing or guard locking after the curtain is specified."Curtain covers everything" when maintenance access still opens a physical guard.Route to the safety door switch type map and families such as MA2/MA3 (solenoid lock), MA50 (RFID lock), or MAS01–MAS03 / MAS11 (non-contact).

A curtain that protects an opening does not automatically replace a locked access door used for tooling changes. Put piece C on its own line when the process still needs a guard that opens. Put piece A with the curtain OEM. Put piece B with the module datasheet that matches your input language.

Six continue/hold checks

Work in order. Continue means the request is ready for the next check. Hold means fix the missing field before treating a candidate as suitable. These are procurement checkpoints, not approval of the machine design.

  1. Name the hazard access path, not only "light curtain"

Input: Which openings the curtain covers, which openings still use a physical guard, and whether people need access while a hazard can remain.

Decision: Continue when pieces A/B/C are marked present, absent or N/A. Hold a single line that only says "light curtain safety relay."

Evidence to request: One-line duty statement the supplier must echo.

  2. Lock curtain output language to the module input language

Input: The output wording printed by the curtain maker (OSSD or other), and the input wording on your electrical drawing for the relay module.

Decision: Continue when every quote maps curtain outputs to module inputs in the same vocabulary, or states a written interface device. Hold "OSSD compatible" without naming both ends. JOYLINKTECH does not invent OSSD wiring here.

Evidence to request: Curtain datasheet output section plus module input table. MA9Z series options include dual NPN NC and dual PNP NC; confirm the code against your drawing. [1]

  3. Decide reset and restart rules before price

Input: Manual reset, automatic reset or other project-defined start language after a curtain trip or E-stop event.

Decision: Continue when reset mode is explicit for the module buy. Hold "same as last cell" without stating which mode that was.

Evidence to request: Module application note for the proposed reset. Cross-check the E-stop monitoring worksheet if the same module also watches E-stop devices.

  4. Ask whether a door or guard switch is still on the bill

Input: Yes/no for a movable guard that opens for maintenance, plus architecture if yes (tongue, solenoid lock, RFID lock, non-contact).

Decision: Continue when the answer is written and, if yes, the architecture matches the door-switch type map. Hold "curtain only" when drawings still show a hinged access door with no switch line.

Evidence to request: Guard drawing callout. Browse machine safety families when the answer is yes.

  5. Separate muting / blanking / cascade notes from the commercial SKU

Input: Whether muting, blanking or cascading with E-stop is in scope, in your own words, owned by your safety engineer.

Decision: Continue when those notes sit on the worksheet as design requirements, not as a supplier slogan. Hold blog wiring redraws offered as the only evidence.

Evidence to request: Curtain OEM application note page numbers for the proposed curtain code. This site will not redraw them.

  6. Ask for documents per piece, not a verbal "safety approved"

Input: Datasheet and page references for the curtain code, the relay module code, and any door-switch code; certificate copies only if your project requires them.

Decision: Continue when each piece points to storeable documents. Hold "Category 4 / SIL included" without naming which document and which ordering code. Family pages tell buyers to confirm model-specific certificates; JOYLINKTECH does not invent them.

Evidence to request: PDF page numbers tied to each proposed code.

Piece B: safety relay module: input language / dual-channel expectation / reset mode / output map:
Piece C: door or guard switch required? (yes/no) / architecture if yes:

For the monitoring module, open MA9Z. For a door or guard that still opens, use the safety door switch guide and the machine safety catalog. When the worksheet is filled, prepare an inquiry or email customer@joylinkrobot.com. Suitability and commercial terms need confirmation for the proposed configuration. Curtain hardware stays with the curtain OEM unless you already have a separate supply path.

Short FAQ

Does JOYLINKTECH sell light curtains?

Not as a NEWMAZZ family on this site. The public catalog focus is door switches, guard locks, non-contact sensors and safety relay modules. Name your curtain OEM code on piece A; ask JOYLINKTECH about pieces B and C when those match NEWMAZZ families.

Will you publish a light curtain safety relay wiring diagram?

No. Wiring belongs to the selected curtain and module documents. A generic diagram would invent steps this site cannot verify. Ask each supplier for the application note that matches the proposed code.

Is this the same article as the emergency stop safety relay page?

No. That page owns E-stop inputs, reset and evidence for module buys driven by stop devices. This page owns the curtain-plus-module fork and the optional door-switch line. Keep both URLs; cross-link instead of merging.

Checked 2 November 2026. Door-switch and relay series facts cite public JOYLINKTECH family pages (NEWMAZZ 2026 Safety Door Switches selection manual). Continue/hold workflow and worksheet are JOYLINKTECH compilation for sourcing requests. No physical testing, stock, price, authorization, light-curtain SKU invention or AI-citation claims.

  1. JOYLINKTECH NEWMAZZ MA9Z family page; door and non-contact families via the machine safety catalog and the safety door switch RFQ; NEWMAZZ 2026 selection manual (PDF). Series claims must be confirmed on the selected model. Curtain datasheets remain with the curtain OEM.
