Guard locking:
locked door vs sensing only

Separate a locked guard (holding force, lock principle, unlock path) from an open/closed door sensor so quotes do not mix lock hardware with sensing-only switches.

Published 3 November 2026 · By JOYLINKTECH · Series facts cite NEWMAZZ family pages linked below. Related "guard lock" searches stay on this URL.

Buyers searching "guard locking" (and the shorter "guard lock") often receive two incompatible quote stacks: a solenoid or RFID lock that keeps the door shut, and a tongue or coded sensor that only reports open/closed. Price lists that mix those lines look complete and still fail the first engineering review. This page is a continue/hold fork for that split. It does not publish lock wiring, invent holding-force proofs for a whole machine, or claim stock, price or certificates beyond what the linked family pages already state.

Lock vs sense fork that changes the quotation

Write one row on the revision before you compare unit prices. A sensing-only switch is not a low-cost substitute for a lock when the process still needs the guard held shut.

Procurement labels for guard locking versus sensing-only door hardware. NEWMAZZ links are documented series pages, not ordering codes.
ArchitectureWhat the buyer is buyingHold if the RFQ only says…NEWMAZZ family pages
Solenoid guard lockingActuator or tongue stays trapped until the solenoid releases; holding force, lock voltage and unlock method sit on the same sheet as the contacts."Guard locking" or "guard lock" with no holding-force, lock principle or unlock line.MA2, MA3 (series catalog holding force 1,300 N; confirm the model). [1]
RFID / coded guard lockingCoded sensing plus a mechanical or electromagnetic lock option; coding and lock method belong together."RFID lock" without coding or lock method.MA50 (mechanical or electromagnetic lock; standard or unique coding as catalog claims). [1]
Bolt-type electronic lockMotor-driven bolt travel with a latch signal; mounting face and manual unlock change the code."Electronic lock" without travel, mounting face or unlock method.MA6
Sensing only (no guard lock)Open/closed status without a lock that holds the guard shut. Useful when locking is not required by the written duty."Interlock" when the process still needs a locked guard, or "magnetic hold" treated as if it were a lock rating.Tongue: MA1. Non-contact: MAS01–MAS03, MAS11. Type map: safety door switch. Guard duty fork: interlocked guard.
Magnetic holding on a non-contact pair (not a lock rating)A light magnetic pull that helps keep a light cover seated; catalog force is far below solenoid lock ratings and does not replace guard locking.RFQ that treats "magnetic holding" as interchangeable with solenoid holding force.MAS03 lists up to about 15 N magnetic holding as a series feature claim; confirm the model. That figure is not a substitute for MA2/MA3 lock holding force. [1]

Power-to-lock and power-to-unlock language only applies when the selected lock principle uses it. Put the principle on the RFQ in the supplier's own words. Do not invent a principle for a family that does not publish one on its page.

Six continue/hold checks

  1. State locked-guard duty vs open/closed sensing

Input: One sentence: keep the guard locked until a hazard is clear / until a stop completes, or sense open/closed only.

Decision: Continue when the duty is explicit. Hold "guard locking" with no duty sentence.

Evidence to request: Duty line echoed on every offer. Browse families on the machine safety catalog.

  2. Pick lock architecture before price

Input: Solenoid lock, RFID lock, bolt lock, or sensing only (and say so).

Decision: Continue when every quotation uses that row, or when a supplier proposes a different row with a written deviation. Hold a shortlist that prices MA1-style tongue sensors against MA2 locks as one commercial line.

Evidence to request: Catalog title that names lock vs sense.

  3. Pin holding force for true locks

Input: Required holding force (or N/A for sensing only), and whether series catalog figures are acceptable until model confirmation.

Decision: Continue when the force field is filled or marked N/A. Hold a lock quote that omits holding force. Series catalog example: MA2 and MA3 list 1,300 N; treat that as a series claim, not a machine-level proof. [1]

Evidence to request: Lock rating line on the proposed model document.

  4. Name lock principle, lock voltage and unlock path

Input: Power-to-lock vs power-to-unlock if that language applies, solenoid or lock supply, and how authorized people unlock for maintenance (front/back positions on some families, handle kits on others).

Decision: Continue when those fields are filled or marked N/A. Hold "solenoid lock" without voltage and unlock. MA50 lists mechanical or electromagnetic lock options and front/back manual unlock positions as catalog claims; MAZ-K2 is a handle assembly for MA1/MA2/MA3 doors. Confirm models. [1]

Evidence to request: Unlock instructions page reference plus lock supply row.

  5. Keep contact / output monitoring on its own line

Input: How the control system learns the guard is closed or locked (contact map, OSSD, module inputs).

Decision: Continue when monitoring is named. Hold a lock-only quote when the drawing still shows dual-channel door inputs into a safety relay. Module-side RFQ: MA9Z and the safety relay routing hub.

Evidence to request: Contact or output table, plus module input language if used.

  6. Ask for documents, not a verbal "locked and safe"

Input: Datasheet, selection-manual page range, dimensional drawing, certificate copies only if your project requires them.

Decision: Continue when each offer points to storeable files for the proposed codes. Hold brand adjectives without page numbers. JOYLINKTECH does not invent certificates or stock claims.

Evidence to request: PDF page numbers tied to each code.

Compare solenoid locks on MA2 and MA3, RFID locking on MA50, bolt locks on MA6, and sensing-only options on the safety door switch type map. When the worksheet is filled, prepare an inquiry or email customer@joylinkrobot.com. Suitability and commercial terms still need confirmation for every proposed configuration. Short FAQ

Is "guard lock" a different article from "guard locking"?

No. Keep both on this URL so the lock-vs-sense checklist does not split across doorway pages.

Does MAS03 magnetic holding replace a solenoid lock?

No. MAS03 lists up to about 15 N magnetic holding as a series feature claim. That is not interchangeable with the 1,300 N series holding-force claims on MA2/MA3. Confirm each model against its document.

Will you publish a generic guard-lock wiring diagram?

No. Wiring belongs to the selected model's operating instructions. A generic diagram would invent steps this site cannot verify.
